STUDIO POLICIES
FEES: are payable only at the time of registration, and no later than the first lesson as post- dated cheques or NEW! automatic e transfer. Cheques are to be dated the first of every month September to June. E transfer payment must be deposited by or on the first of each month to avoid a late payment fee. Cost will be provided per term/year, divided equally into 10 amounts. There is unfortunately no deviation from this policy. Please note a $50.00 fee may apply if lessons are forfeited in an improper manner, not carried out as planned once begun, or discontinued without proper payment or notice.
Available are private lessons for 1/2 hour, 45 minutes, 1 hour, and 1 and 1/2 hours. Private 1/2 theory and 1 hour history and harmony is also available. Note that theory is a separate study and time slot, as it is not feasible to take away from the private lesson time for theory.
45 minute lessons tend to be most effective for students age 9-12. Grade 7 piano and higher requires 1 hour of lesson time. Rank beginners may prefer a 1/2 hour.
I offer coaching for soloists, art song, chamber groups, and other ensemble for music festival and concert performances. Please email me for details, and to set up a session.
Finally, lessons, coaching, and critique is now available for out of town students via the internet. Please email me to book a session.
MAKE –UPS: Because the studio is so busy, it is not possible to offer make ups for missed lessons due to conflicts, travel, emergency, or, illness. If you are going to miss, 24 hours notice is appreciated, as then your lesson time can be passed on to someone else. Alternatively, your lesson can be held online. In the event of a long term illness, no more than 2 make ups will be scheduled per term. In other words, it is best to not miss your lesson. Missed theory classes can not be made up, as the class continues even if you are absent. Private theory will be treated as private lessons.
LESSON SWITCHING : To help you attend every lesson, lessons may be changed with another student to accommodate an occasional conflict, contact me by email for help with this, a minimum of 24 hours in advance. Plan to give at least 24 hours notice to the other party, and carefully convey the appropriate lesson time to each other, to avoid confusion.
REFUNDS: Unfortunately, no refunds are available for missed lessons or classes .One month’s notice must be given if a student wishes to discontinue, valid from the 1st of the month. No refunds will be given beyond December 31st of the current year (2024). From this point on, it is not possible to fill the space reserved for you.
